To sustain and enhance our leadership position in the pharmaceutical industry, we continue to recruit, develop and motivate individuals whose skills, values, and work ethic will grow and improve our business.Job SummaryLead programs in the development of safe, economical and scaleable processes for the synthesis, isolation and purification of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Provide expertise to the solution of problems that arise in the preparation of APIs. Assemble and write transfer of technology packages for Pilot Plants and Production units.Job ResponsibilitiesConduct experimentation aimed at devising and optimizing safe, economical and scaleable processes for the synthesis, isolation and purification of APIs. Develop research programs that lead to robust chemical processes.Lead and carry out process development activities to support further scale-up of API for transfer to internal scale-up facilities or 3rd party suppliers. Prepare technical reports and documents for technology transfer packages, assist in the transfer of chemical processes to scale-up facilities, and troubleshoot large-scale API manufacturing processes. Facilitate status updates on projects (monthly reports, Project Review Meetings etc.). Interact with peers and managers in manner consistent with Wyeth’s company values of quality, integrity, respect for people, leadership, and collaboration.Identify process by-products and devise appropriate in-process tests.Keep abreast of breaking technical developments in organic chemistry, process development, automated reaction screening.Satisfactorily complete all cGMP/cGLP and safety training in conformance with Departmental requirementsBasic QualificationsPh.D. in Synthetic Organic ChemistryExperience with API process development, development of synthetic routes, scale up experience, technology transfer. Exemplary communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are prerequisites for the job. A working knowledge of automated parallel reactors, use of PAT, experimental design and an understanding of technology in a process environment is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively is critical.This position requires a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related field with 12 years of experience. Strong background in process development is desirable with experience in third party technology transfer. Full understanding of cGMP, process validation and knowledge of regulatory environment.
