Principal Tax Associate

•Location:    US-VA-Mc Lean •Job Status:    Full Time, Employee•Job Category:    Accounting/Finance/Insurance •Career Level::    Experienced (Non-Manager) Principal Tax Associate Job Description:Responsibilities: Participate in the preparation of the federal consolidated tax return, state and local income and franchise tax returns, extensions and estimates Participate in the preparation of the FAS109 tax provision calculation and FIN 48 analysis for financial statement purposes Participate in completing IRS and state tax audits, including preparing responses to requests for documentation and meeting with tax auditors to resolve issues Respond to federal, state, and local tax notices received Provide tax information and respond to questions generated from internal Capital One departments Perform research and other tax projects as needed Occasional day travel to Richmond, VA Travel to other company sites as neededJob Experience:Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree • 1 year of experience in tax or accounting Preferred Qualifications: • Tax experience in a public accounting or financial services environment strongly preferred • MS in Tax or JD • CPA • Strong communication, research and writing skills • Strong analytical skills developed through experience in an accounting, planning or forecasting role • The ability to work independently, develop new ideas and take ownership of projectsNo agencies please.
