The position is responsible for capital project implementation, productivity improvement, and new product launch support on a global scale within Abbott Nutrition. The position will work closely with other Supply chain, R&D, and commercial organizations to implement Abbott Nutrition key global strategies of growing core brands and improving efficiency and profitability. Specific responsibilities include:Provide overall leadership and guidance across the division for process and utility engineering core competencies including liquid process design, aseptic processing/filling, clean-in-place system design, energy and utility optimization, and powder processing. Provide coaching and mentoring for engineering staff, talent development, training and performance feedback. Responsible for strategic development and retention of core process competencies within area.Implementation of front end planning and design for key Process Technology capital projects. Responsible for scope development for capital projects over LRP.Development of detailed scope, design, cost estimates and implementation plans for process/utility projects to support ANSC operations on a global scale. Identification and implementation of productivity improvement projects. Assures adequate resources and alignment with division priorities.Provide technical direction, implementation, and oversight for new product launches, process expansions, and innovation projects. Assure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements including FDA, EPA, & OSHA.Manage engineering departmental budgets, resource plans, and workload commitments against division priorities.Solve process and manufacturing problems on a timely basis to reduce downtime. Investigate, develop and recommend alternatives for design, procurement and installation of new technologies and systems for optimization and efficiency improvement.Provide technical leadership in compliance related areas such as validation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and environmental programs/projects.QualificationsRequires 7-10 years of experience in engineering with at least 3 years in a management role. Candidate should have knowledge and experience with nutritional or pharmaceutical manufacturing, capital project management, estimating, and budgeting. Must have proven leadership skills with ability to quickly adapt to changing business priorities on a global scale. International experience preferred, but not required. Knowledge of process design, scale-up, powder manufacturing, and aseptic technologies preferred. Candidate must have solid strategic and tactical decision making skills. Must be able to manage and execute complex projects through staff.
