Product Designer II
Dresser Waukesha manufactures large, spark-ignited, gaseous fueled, reciprocating engines. We also package Enginator engine-driven generator sets. Our products are widely used in field gas compression, power generation and other mechanical drive applications. Duties and Responsibilities:
-Utilize technical design skills, engine knowledge, Pro/E experience, and Waukeshas Quality System procedures to create new product designs, product assemblies, and solve design-related problems.
-Work with various types of engineers, designers, operations, global sourcing, application engineering, marketing, service, and others areas of expertise as required to procure prototype hardware for design verification, product release, and trouble-shooting production and field service type problems.
-Will require some domestic and international travel.
-Provide technical support to other functional areas, as required.
-Perform required Business System transactions associated with EN releases.
-Assists on special projects as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background Required:
-Associate degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent experience
Educational Background Desired:
-Associate degree in Electrical Design
Work Experience Required:
-Minimum of three years mechanical design
-Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing, quality and assembly processes
-Three years minimum experience with Pro-E solid-modeling CAD software
-Demonstrated proficiency in technical and organizational assignments
-Working knowledge of design graphics
-Ability to perform complex design calculations, and GD&T per ASME Y-14-5M
-Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills
-Demonstrated problem solving skills
Work Experience Desired:
-1-2 years electrical design
-Three years minimum experience with AutoCAD
-Microsoft Windows
-Microsoft Office applications
-CA-CAS or Oracle Business system
-Engine/Generator set design background with experience designing strucural steel skids; cooling, fuel, exhaust, lube oil, air, and electrical systems; and instrument panels
-Experience using FEA, preferably Pro/Mechanica
-Demonstrable knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques
-Experience interfacing with manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, and customers
-Demonstrated conceptual skills to design engine generator components, systems, and assemblies in PRO/E
