Project Controller/ CPDEP

Job Description:Departmental Objectives: * Promote the use of CPDEP for IT methodology* Ensure projects are funded properly* Maintain a proactive approach and introduce best practices where applicableKey Departmental Deliverables: * CPDEP for IT Roadmap* Framing Document* Project Plan & Project budgetThroughout the project management lifecycle, the project controller will act as the project consultant and assist in a number of critical path activities including Facilitation, Reporting and Audit /Reconciliation. Duties: *Manage one or more IT projects*Ensure that the data management guidelines are implemented and kept up to date.*Create project budget estimates based off of project schedule and available resources*Act as the CPDEP champion for project team. *Coordinate with EPMO to train team members on CPDEP practices as needed*Provide advice and share best practices with project managers on lessons learned from other projects and project management techniquesFacilitation: The project controller organizes and facilitates meetings by:* Organizing workshop logistics, * Serving as the meeting facilitator, ensuring proper documentation/action items are captured and later distributed* Maintaining distribution lists, e.g., Key Stakeholders, Project TeamReporting: Significant emphasis is placed on project reporting. Project controllers assist the project in ensuring all reporting to stakeholders is complete and accurate. The controller will assist the assigned project with:* Project Status Reports and Streetlights* Project Milestones, Budget Tracking & Project metrics* Resource tracking using Chevron's Project Resource Optimization (PRO) tool Audit/Reconciliation: Controllers audit each project, ensuring best practices are used during the reconciliation of project plans, project financials and project metrics. The Project Controller will provide:* Reconciliation of planned project schedule and budget against achieved tasks * Reconciliation of budgeted vs. actual costs reported by financial systems. * Scheduling of monthly reconciliation meetings and status reporting*Ensure that CPDEP principals are being adhered to and that schedules and budgets are accurate and up to date.The resource should be experienced in project financial reporting and controls, and have a solid background in project management methodologies. Must have strong written & verbal skills as well as fluency in Microsoft office tools like Excel, Word, Project & Visio. The resource needs to be flexible enough to provide the type of service that the various teams need. In some cases it is strictly acting as a "project controller" and supporting the project manager and project teams. In some cases it is more of a consultant role where the resource would help a new project manager with the processes. The main focus is Infrastructure Design experience with Servers, Desktop, and/or Security. Having experience building Data Centers is a huge plus. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal/people skills; Strong team-player and a flexible, proactive team member; Ability to lead/facilitate teams of diverse individuals with varying priorities and interests; Must have excellent communication skills - listening skills are especially important.
