Project Director, Engineering

POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the Senior Director, Global Engineering Capital Projects – Process Projects the Project Director will have responsibility for the execution of capital projects between $10 and $150 mm for process related capital projects.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESResponsible for managing one or more Project Managers and a cross-functional team consisting of internal and external resources. Responsible for programming, concept and scope development and scope management, budget development and capital appropriation, internal project communication and client interfaces, cost and schedule development and control, financial reporting, construction and contructability reviews, construction safety, procurement, projects staffing, start-up scheduling and execution and managing site interfaces on assigned capital projects.Responsible for building high performce teams, showing appropriate delegation of work assignments; plus mentor/support professional development of assigned personnel.Demonstrate problem solving skills related to complex execution challenges on large projects, and possess effective strategic and tactical balance regarding the organizing and planning required for planning and executing complex project work.Possess highly effective leadership ability, encompassing strong communication, demonstrated listening ability, motivating, influencing and team building/team performance skills at multiple levels, up to and including executive level and cross-functionally. Exhibit customer focus and effectively direct and interface with A/E and CM peer level partners. REQUIREMENTSPossess in-depth working knowledge of GMP requirements, the design and construction and construction safety business processes, including project management and all aspects of commercial transactions/contracts.Be highly effective at managing conflict, possess excellent negotiating skills and be able to effectively interfacing with executives of A/E and CM firms.Executed more than one international projects.Possess excellent communication, presentation and writing skillsEXPERIENCEA BS degree in engineering or other related 4-5 year degree, with at minimum of 20 years experience, with spent 5+ years in a senior corporate/project leadership role.
