We are seeking a Project Manager Periodicals in our Piscataway, NJ office who will manage projects related to the strategy formation and implementation for the IEEE Society related periodicals business. This business consists of over 130 individual publications and several society packaged products. This includes sales to Members and Nonmembers as individual sales as well as packaged product sales. The overall business covers the entire span of the publications process, from the new periodical proposals to distribution of the content. The scope of this position involves strategic planning, project management, and some operations management (including new periodical proposals, committee support, and special projects).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Define (in conjunction with the Periodicals Product Manager), project manage, and implement strategic plans for the evolution of the society periodicals business in conjunction with the Product
Manager.
• The strategic planning for this product line requires interaction with multiple IEEE governing committees and boards.
• Coordination is required with internal staff operations, external parties (e.g., production vendors, librarians) and volunteer groups associated with IEEE governance.
• Project manage and assure completion of any assigned special projects, examples include, support the New Periodicals process and assist in the creation of proposals for new periodicals.
• Will do analysis of elimination of paper subscriptions and analysis of bundling and unbundling publications with membership.
• Will do analysis of Profit and Loss perspective on IEEE Society periodicals, as an aggregate business along with analysis of trends and provide needed data analysis for Periodicals.
• Assess financial information and provide proposals to volunteers for decision making and assist Ad Hoc groups on the analysis of periodical issues.
• Support TAB Periodicals Committee, TAB Periodical Packages Committee (PPC), and attend TAB PSC and TAB meetings, so this position requires some travel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors in business, marketing or related degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years publishing industry or publication-related experience.
• Minimum of 5 years personal computing experience.
• Strong and demonstrated skills in, written and oral communication, interpersonal interactions, financial analysis, trending, information analysis and project management.
• Good skills in, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Understanding and working knowledge of periodical/publishing business, or similar experience.
