Project Specialist V (Fire Protection) (07-0492)

SALARY: $5,141 - $8,226 / Monthly

JOB DUTIES:
This position requires the application of technical skills of fire protection engineering to performing the design of facilities and/or appurtenances of facilities; ability to prepare, read, and/or interpret complex engineering drawings; ability to conduct formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested parties; ability to review cost estimates of projects for technical accuracy; ability to perform duties as a project design team member to coordinate and prepare technical aspects of engineering projects from inception to completion including project reviews, preliminary designs, design criteria, specifications, calculations, and design drawings; ability to review project submittals for compliance with project requirements; and ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
A technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations for design of site infrastructure, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers. Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards; working knowledge of DOE Orders and DOE-mandated codes and standards related to fire protection; knowledge of computer-based analytical methods related to fire protection design; Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to Fire Protection Engineering. Skill in oral and written communication.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or related discipline, or currently registered Fire Protection Engineer with at least 4 years experience related to industrial fire protection and fire hazard analyses of industrial/nuclear facilities and at least 1-year nuclear experience.
