Purchasing/Import Agent

A fast growing, Monmouth County, NJ Tabletop and Housewares importer/distributor seeks a results-driven  Purchasing /Import Agent with 5+ yrs hands-on experience in sourcing & buying finished consumer goods, specifically tabletop or housewares products from Asian / European suppliers.  Product experience should include flatware, cutlery knives, dishware, glassware, cookware, kitchen gadgets, ceramics, etc. You must possess a thorough knowledge of the entire purchasing cycle including product development, forecasting, production planning, as well as inventory management, and quality control.

 

Duties include:Product demand forecast analysis (POS, etc.).Inventory management (maintain safety stock levels).Obtain price proposals from contract factories.  Issue and amend all required PO’s.  Audit pro-forma invoices against purchase orders.  Maintain and track production, shipping schedules to ensure on time delivery.  Expedite shipments with factories as needed.Work with Q/C to ensure product passes quality standards and quickly resolve issues to guarantee timely delivery.Tracking of all inventories in transit and follow up with the warehouse to ensure the timely and accurate processing of the receipt.Coordinate and communicate with Import, Sales, Logistics and Finance on the status of all incoming deliveries.

 

Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. 

Strong communication skills required. 

Occasional travel to Asian factories is also required.
