For more information on Alcon, Inc., visit the Company's web site at .General Description: The Incumbent will be responsible for assuring compliance in all areas of safety, environmental and transportation responsibility including classification of articles according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and the Export Administration Regulations; coordinating and completing safety and environmental permits, reporting and documenting requirements; monitoring compliance with regulations and R&D policy; performing audit of control systems; developing and implementing programs and providing training for R&D personnel to assure regulatory requirements are met; reviewing and reporting to R&D management new or existing regulatory requirements and corporate policies/programs and associated business impacts, including designing response actions. Incumbent must possess core expertise in functional areas and convey this knowledge in a team environment; interfacing with management and supervision as well as in R&D workgroups to ensure systems are in place and maintained to properly document Alcon's obligations; routinely tracking and communicating the R&D safety, environmental and transportation performance; and developing and managing the delegated portion of R&D budget.Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Science or Engineering with five to seven yearsexperience with primary responsibility for safety, environmental and/or international transportation compliance.* Regulatory agency experience in combination with industry work may also be accepted. Required skills include strong oral and written communications; interpersonal and negotiating skills; strong time management and organizational skills (must respond fluidly to changes in priorities); ability to articulate complex regulatory/technical information into clear and simple language; and proficient spreadsheet, database, Internet, graphics and word processing abilities.Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and safety/transportation compliance background plus seven or more years pharmaceutical or medical device industry experience or Master's degree with five years industry experience preferably with multi-site R&D/laboratory operations.PE preferable.Position Success Factors: Planning and Executing; Strategic Thinking; Problem Identification and Resolution; Teamwork; and Results OwnershipOur generous benefits package includes the Alcon 401(k) Plan which matches employee contributions up to 5% of eligible pay at the rate of $1.00 for each dollar contributed, and the Alcon Retirement Plan (ARP), a qualified plan in which Alcon contributes 7% of eligible pay to the accounts of all eligible employees.
