Regional General Adjuster - Liability

Job Description:The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Regional General Adjuster-Liability for their Southern Major Case Unit. The ideal candidate will reside in the Richmond, VA region. This position is fully responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation and resolution of liability claims which are the most complex in coverage and represent the company’s largest claim exposures. Responsibilities include analyzing coverage and evaluating policy applicability to both litigated and non-litigated claims. These claims could originate anywhere in the Southeast and may require field consultation and investigation and require a high level of technical expertise. The RGA must employ a heightened level of litigation management skills, collaborating continuously with counsel to strategize and formulate defense plans, negotiate regularly with plaintiff attorneys, and prepare for and advocate persuasively at mediations and arbitrations. Qualifications and Requirements: Advanced technical knowledge and skill pertaining to casualty coverage, medical, law, case values and civil procedures. Highly refined analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be experienced and highly efficient in negotiating. Knowledge of commercial and personal lines policies, casualty adjusting best practices and litigation management. Strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills. Self directed, self motivated and able to work without close supervision. 8+ years casualty adjusting experience or equivalent, including litigation management. Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Possess or secure and maintain appropriate adjuster state licenses and continuing education credits. Valid driver's license and clear MVR are required. Some travel required. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, E-mail, Internet and ability to perform appropriate entry into multiple software applications.
