JOB DESCRIPTION: The Research Director, Agencies, plays a critical, challenging, highly visible role at Nielsen Online (a new unit within the Nielsen Company created from the integration of Nielsen//NetRatings and Nielsen BuzzMetrics). Reporting to the Vice President of Media Analytics, the Research Director is the leader of all agency-related custom research efforts across Nielsen Online, the public spokesperson representing Nielsen Onlines research to the agency clients, and the principal internal voice driving the future direction of Nielsen Onlines agency offerings. This key role requires a person who understands the online media buying/planning sector who is highly comfortable with data, and who thrives when working closely with clients. ResponsibilitiesIn descending order of importance, the Research Director is responsible for the following: Custom research architecture: Development of customized research approaches to address clients needs, utilizing all of the data available across Nielsen Online Analysis: Provide insight and direction to clients, driven by data Sales support: Support Nielsen Onlines salesforce in its efforts to service the needs of existing clients, and to acquire new clients Project management: Oversee complex research projects that require data inputs from across Nielsen Online External Spokesperson: Speak with reporters, present at conferences, appear on television and radio as Nielsen expert on online commerce Management: Directly manage modest staff of 1 or 2 people, indirectly oversee work of an indirect team spanning 3 teams within Custom AnalyticsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Experience working within an interactive agency or media company Experience using data to drive insight is required Management Consulting experience is highly valuedEDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: BA or BS required. Liberal Arts, Engineering, Mathematics, degrees preferred.
