Research Statistician
Battelle is a world leader in science and technology research. Our Statistics and Information Analysis (SIA) group specializes in providing support to biomedical, defense, homeland security, environmental, health, transportation, energy, and other research projects. SIA is seeking statisticians in the Columbus, OH area for full-time, regular shift work. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. A full benefits package will be provided. Relocation support is available. The selected candidate will work at Battelle's corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Primary job responsibilities will include: - Solve problems using statistics, computer, and people skills. Achieve high technical quality in assigned projects. - Conduct and participate in assigned projects with a minimum of supervision and within time and budget constraints. - Assume responsibility for reports, proposals, and presentations. - Maintain both formal and informal communications and good relationships with internal and external clients. - Oversee efforts of supporting one to three project team members as assigned. Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to train other research staff in specific areas of expertise, as well as accept certain administrative functions, as necessary, to ensure smooth functioning of the product line. A minimal amount of domestic travel is anticipated. Candidate resumes must demonstrate the following minimum requirements in order to be forwarded for consideration: - Master's degree with five years' experience or a PhD in statistics with expertise in statistical design and analysis techniques - Course work in regression, ANOVA, and experimental design - Experience with PCs and statistical software packages such as SAS, S-PLUS, or R is required. - Ability to obtain a security clearance Additional selection criteria will include the abilities to demonstrate outstanding initiative and be results oriented, communicate very well - verbally and in writing, work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, and create clear goals under ambiguous conditions. Desired qualifications include experience at providing support in statistical design and analysis to engineers or scientists. Coursework or research experience in project areas listed above is desired.
