We have a strong opportunity for a Senior Buyer located in our Plano, TX. office.Senior Buyer Function:Purchases, without supervision, highly complex and technical items or services, usually of a high dollar volume, which have significant impact on business operations.Senior Buyer Responsibilities:Determines through a detailed understanding of product specification, business objectives and sources of supply, the most appropriate suppliers for parts, commodities or services assigned.Performs vendor selection based on criteria of cost, delivery, quality, reliability and receptivity of vendor to strict measurement and control. Negotiations often involve persuading vendors to undertake the manufacturing of custom designed items according to complex and rigid specifications and/or delivery schedules.Reviews requisitions and confers with initiating personnel regarding requirements, specifications, quantity and quality of material; prepares, processes and approves purchase orders; solicits and review quotations for purchased material; defines most advantageous buying quantities and lead time schedules; audits invoices of an unusual nature; contacts vendors as needed to ensure mutual understanding.Responsible for vendor management. Works with vendors to establish performance goals in area of cost, delivery and quality. Monitors vendor performance and interacts with those not meeting goals to determine remedial action required.Process adjustments with vendors involving replacement of material which does not meet specifications; obtains disposition of rejected non-conforming materials and take corrective action to remedy cause of such problems; may assist in the disposition through sale or other means of scrap and obsolete material.May work in cooperation with technical personnel in new product design and/or in quoting process.Impact your careerVisit http://ips./careers/careers.htm for more information and to view additional career opportunities.
