Your twofold mission will be to build a high performing team from the ground up and provide the vision, leadership, and training to help the Sales Counselors achieve the team's goals. While this is not a hands-on sales role, it definitely is a hands-on leadership role, and you will invest a significant amount of time in the field supporting and coaching your people (the Counselors work on straight commission; your compensation will be based on leading a successful team).
