Both individual contributions and team successes are critical on the path to scientific and medical breakthroughs.Job Description Major Duties and Responsibilities (including supervising others):The candidate will conceptualize, plan, and execute experiments and analyze data for biologic vaccine liquid formulation development. Development responsibilities include formulation characterization, stability studies, process development, device development and new technology introduction. The candidate may also be responsible for managing junior staff, vendor sourcing and collaborations (both internal or external) as appropriate. Job Requirements Education: PhD in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Biophysics, Biochemistry/Biology or related field. 0 – 3 years (Scientist I), 3 – 7 years (Scientist II) post PhD experience in a field related to position responsibilities.Experience: Advanced work experience and understanding of liquid formulation development are required. This includes substantive experience and success in pre-formulation and application of physical and biochemical methods to characterize the product, the formulations, freezing-thawing process and product-container/device interactions. Experience in elucidating the mechanistic basis of biologic stability (e.g., protein, virus) is highly preferred. Additional experience in drying processes and solid-state chemistry of biological molecules or vaccines is desirable. Ability to use Microsoft Office and statistics (e.g., error analysis) are expected. Experience with statistical software packages (e.g. JMP), project management (e.g. MS project) and database software (e.g. Access) is desirable. Special Skills/Abilities: The candidate should have a theoretical command of and high proficiency in the use various characterization methods such as laser light scattering, thermal analysis (e.g., MDSC, ITC), microscopy (freeze-drying; TEM), spectroscopy (e.g., CD, UV) or other techniques (e.g., LC).
