Senior Accountant, Accounting & Analysis

Prepare and/or assist with preparation of journal entries, reconciliations and analysis reports relating to cemetery property inventory and construction, cemetery deferred revenue and related accounts and FIN 46R accounting and reporting. Assist with resolution of reconciling items identified on reconciliations. Supervision and review of reconciliations prepared by off-shore team.  Responsibilities may include: Execute queries of data from point of sale (HMIS) and GL (Lawson) systems. Prepare or assist with analysis of queried data to determine whether additional journal entries are required. Prepare and upload journal entries into GL system. Prepare or assist with reconciliations of GL accounts to support detail or proof calculations of required amounts. Assist with resolution of known reconciling items. Work with field personnel (management support centers and locations), principally by phone.  Educational & Experience Requirements (required/plus)Minimum-four year degree in accounting with at least three years experience in industry and/or public accounting. Experience should include a minimum of two years of responsibility for reconciliations of GL accounts to support detail or proof calculations of required amounts. CPA or CPA candidate would be a plus. Technical Qualifications (required/plus)Must have excellent skills in MS EXCEL and in using MS ACCESS for data manipulation and some exposure to SQL for query from server based databases Have communication skills (oral and written) commensurate with level and years of experience. CLICK HERE TO APPLY Position Information Company Service Corporation International Location Houston-Allen Parkway (near Downtown), TX 77019 Status Full Time, Employee Job Category Accounting/Finance/Insurance Education Level Bachelor's Degree
