The incumbent serves as consultant to R & D, Medical Affairs, and Medical Pharmacovigilance to evaluate adverse experiences, interpret other data, and advise on observational study design. The Sr. Director, Epidemiology, may initiate the disbursement of grant funds for projects assigned.Job ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement epidemiologic studies to assess the safety of marketed products and to guide the development of innovative therapies Design and oversee analyses of existing data sources, including company safety data, population-based health statistics and external automated databases, to address questions about safety and the incidence, prevalence and natural history of disease Contribute to Risk Management Plan strategy and document creation Provide consultation to Wyeth safety review teams in the preparation of periodic safety update reports, product labeling, and responses to regulatory queries Present results of epidemiological research to regulatory agencies, professional societies, and in peer-reviewed journals Establish registries and other databases of patient information of potential use in the identification and evaluation of safety signals. Develop and maintain working relationships with pharmacoepidemiology consultants and investigatorsSupervise the work of epidemiology professionals and clerical support staff members. Recruit and develop epidemiology staff, and establish resource requirements You will interact with colleagues in safety surveillance, regulatory affairs, risk management, clinical research & development, global medical affairs, new business development, legal, and ex-US affiliates. Basic QualificationsMD and a graduate degree in Epidemiology, Public Health or related field. In lieu of a graduate degree, equivalent experience in Epidemiology, Public Health or related field will be accepted.At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Epidemiology and Pharmacoepidemiology in clinical industry experience. Exceptional leadership skills, ability to develop and lead a team. Good management skills, decisive, organized and ability to prioritize. Exceptional analytical and communication skills. Excellent computer skills. Experience in safety surveillance, a plus.
