Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Senior Electro-Mechanical R & D Technician Job Description:Support the engineering staff in the assembly of prototype and clinical electrodes, and implantable medical devices. Assist with process development. _________________________________________________________________DUTIES:1. Mechanical Build: Take detailed schematics and verbal instruction from R&D engineering staff and fabricate working prototypes. Processes involved include, but are not limited to, silicone molding, resistance welding, and laser welding in a clean-room environment.2. Procurement: Take lead from R&D staff and procure the necessary components for the task defined.3. Test/Debug: Take lead from R&D staff and be able to debug prototype performance.4. Qualify: Perform mechanical tests to components to validate system performance.5. Laboratory Management: Maintain laboratory equipment in calibration, assure safety and OSHA compliance, and notify management of any outstanding laboratory issues. Maintain a Class 10,000 clean-room in an organized manner.EXPERIENCE:1. Total experience: At least 3 years experience as a manufacturing operator or technician in a medical device or high technology manufacturing environment. 2. Tool experience: Experience laser welding, resistance welding, injection molding, casting, and silicone molding equipment. 3. Other: Experience with precision machining a plus.SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS1. Mechanical Construction: Experience in the assembly of micro components using a microscope is required. Must possess excellent manual dexterity. 2. Parts Procurement: Able to assume a role in the procurement of parts specified from an Advance Bill of Materials is required.3. Operating style: Hands-on, action-oriented, with good experimental work habits. Good interaction with other team members in the development of prototype devices. Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment. Able to train manufacturing personnel.4. Tool development: Able to use existing tools to the solution of relevant problems.EDUCATION AND TRAINING:1. Degrees: High School diploma or equivalent. A.A.S or B.S. in Mechanical Technology preferable.2. Technical training: Evidence of continuing education in technology improvement, computer skills, and/or mechanical design.Job Experience:Experience in the assembly of micro components using a microscope is required.
