Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description:Primary Function: Primary job function is to research, design, and develop external devices such as Remote Controls and Portable Chargers. Duties: Responsibility is for the timely research, design, and development of hand-held portable devices (similar to Cell Phone, Blackberry, PDA, MP3 Player, etc.) plus related tooling/processes. Responsibility may also include various sustaining engineering efforts. Duties are focused on efficient and effective project engineering. A subset may include owning or contributing to marketing specifications, engineering specifications, feasibility plan/testing/reports, cost estimation/analysis, detailed mechanical engineering design, design reviews, risk analysis, hazard analysis, FMEA-Design/Process/Use, tolerance analysis, material analysis, force analysis, stress analysis, thermal analysis, dynamic analysis, molding analysis, manufacturing equipment definition/debug/validation, tooling definition/debug/validation, process definition/debug/validation, engineering builds, and product verification testing. Designs must meet performance, cost, and manufacturability goals. Candidates must have previous demonstrated experience in project management. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: *Knowledge of QSR, GLP, and relevant medical standards. * Excellent team player and individual contributor. *Experience in working with electrical engineers on mechanical aspects of space-efficient electronics packaging for robust performance in shock/drop/vibration/etc. * Experience as project engineer that is fully capable of producing tooling-ready 3D CAD files for injection molded plastic components. *Experience with hand-held portable device physical user interfaces such as industrial design, display technologies, button technologies, connectors + cables, battery contact and removable battery door designs, etc. * Materials biocompatibility for external devices. *SolidWorks and/or Pro/Engineer 3D CAD & ANSI Y14.5. *Tolerance analysis. *Finite element analysis. *Thermal and structural analysis. *Experience with Design/Process/Use FMEAs. *Experience in design for manufacturability. *Experience with design verification and validation. *Excellent oral communication skills. *Excellent documentation skills (Specification, Test Plan, Test Report, etc.).Experience: Requires 5+ years in electo-mechanical design. Preferably in Medical Devices and hand-held product design.Education and Training: BS in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
