Senior Pricing Analyst
Location: : San Francisco, CA 94583 Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Senior Pricing Analyst GENERAL SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supporting the pricing analytics relating to memberships, e-commerce and retail business categories. The pricing responsibilities included, but not limited to, product profitability and valuation analysis, promotional and discounts analysis, data mining, forecast and variance analysis, budget preparation, economic research, and creation and delivery of statistical and financial models and reporting which impacted over $1B in sales. Worked closely with senior sales, marketing executives and their team, and merchandising team to assist with pricing analytics, using scenario and sensitivity analysis, statistical and economic indicators, volume and mix fluctuations, promotional dynamics, traffic trends and overhead expenses. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Pricing Analysis and Reporting (50%)· Analyze price according to volume and mix fluctuations for the different products within the different categories. Identify results according to the price discounts, promotions, advertising and traffic. · Provide weekly and monthly revenue results caused by price and promotional changes.· Create different access and excel models per category and products for effective promotional analysis which included, but not limited to, price sensitivity and scenario analysis, correlation studies and profitability results.· Create Peoplesoft layouts that facility the analysis of products. · Participate in the creation of different slide presentations as needed. 2. Profitability Analysis, Product Valuation and Forecasting (40%) Analyze the value and profitability of new and existing programs and products, and tests to measure their value and evaluate the impact to the business. Provide financial forecasts driven by pricing changes based on historical, current data trends, and price, units and mix objective and business owners’ feedback. Create and maintain forecasting profitability models for future promotions and execute variance, scenario and sensitivity analysis to increase profitability. Create and maintain new reports in Peoplesoft which include new products, regions, and accounts. 3. Preparation of Annual Budget (5%)· Responsibilities include participate in the development of annual budgets for New Members Sales, Fitness and Retail revenue by product via price, unit and mix. Specifically, combining historical financial and pricing results, external resources, and input from senior management to develop annual budgets. · Specific tasks include significant data manipulation in Peoplesoft program and Access database as well significant analysis using Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint. Also, frequent interaction with business owners, including senior executives, to ensure development of a comprehensive plan that incorporates cross categories. 4. Economic and Statistical analysis and reporting (5%)· Research, analyze and produce clear and concise written explanation of customer, industry & economic trends that may impact the category from a pricing perspective.· Accurate analyze traffic statistical results for promotional planning. · Provide any ad hoc economic and traffic analysis as needed. ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS: This position will interface frequently with divisional management in Production, Operations and Fitness as well as key business owners at home office. Additionally, there will be daily interaction with both the Finance and Accounting staffs. This position will not have any direct reports. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:· Demonstrate strong analytical, conceptual, creative, and practical problem solving skills.· Experience in scenario, sensitivity, price consumption, demographics analyses necessary.· Comfortable with Financial and Statistical theories such as NPV, IRR, ROI, Correlation Coefficient, Standard Deviation.· Proven success in planning and attaining organizational objectives. · Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and independently, setting own priorities. · Proven experience creating sophisticated Excel spreadsheets, Access databases, and PowerPoint presentations. · Solid planning and forecasting software experience preferred using Peoplesoft or SAP, Hyperion or Khalix, and Oracle. · Flexibility, open to change and willing to learn new skills. · Ability to manage the responsibilities under pressure. · Exceptional detail and accuracy orientation.· Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills a must. Must be customer service orientated 2) Minimum certifications/educational level: · Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics. Master degree in Finance or Economics preferred. 3) Minimum experience:· 4 to 5 years of experience in pricing, budget preparation, forecast, variance analysis, marketing analysis. 4) Physical Requirements:· This position is classified as sedentary work that consists of exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.· Equipment and special materials needed to perform this task: computer, telephone, pen, copier, calculator, and printers.· Physical Requirements· Mobility Factors: Sit 80%, Walk 20%· Physical Ability: sitting, walking, light lifting, data input, fine finger manipulation, hearing, seeing, writing, and reaching.
