Senior Web and User Interface Designer

OCLC is a nonprofit library service and research organization that has provided computer-based cataloging, reference, resource sharing, eContent, preservation, library management and Web services to 60,000 libraries in 112 countries and territories. OCLC and its member libraries worldwide have created and maintain WorldCat, the world's richest online resource for finding library materials. We are currently seeking candidates for a Senior Web and User Interface Designer.  You may work at one of our regional offices located in Dublin, Ohio (world headquarters); San Mateo, California; Boulder, Colorado or Seattle, Washington.  Or you may work from a remote office. 

The Senior Web Designer develops concepts, designs and produces graphic communications for web delivery.  S/he contributes to the design and user experience of the OCLC website and online service interfaces.  That design work contributes to and defines the OCLC visual brand identity.  S/he will also lead the design of the new Web projects, manage style sheets and coordinate usability testing for Web projects.Manage content (graphic and text) for OCLC websites using Collage content management system and visual design tools such as Photoshop Lead the planning, design and usability testing for new web projects Analyze text or verbal communications from a client and translate their communication intent into visual form for web, interface, or print Oversee web style sheets and manage change requests from other designers and authors.  Work with internal and external writers, translators and information architects to develop system of templates for content development Work with design management to ensure a consistent execution of the OCLC brand look and feel, across the website and other e-marketing tools, working with internal staff and global affiliates and subsidiaries Develop light web functionality using scripting languages such as JavaScript  Minimum of a bachelors degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Visual Communications or other related field  At least 4-6 years' experience in website and interface design Must have working knowledge of HTML, CSS, XHTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, and Action Script Currently must be proficient using professional image editors (such as Adobe, PhotoShop or QuarkXPress, vector-based drawing tools (such as Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia FreeHand, or Macromedia Flash), and HTML editors (such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or Macromedia HomeSite Relevant online marketing experience, with strong technical knowledge of website development and design Design project management experience and organizational skills Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and be proactive Strong problem-solving and creative-thinking skills Ability to engage stakeholders at various levels and champion large projects.
