Sr AIX Systems Administrator Job Description:MUST RESIDE IN LOS ANGELES, ORANGE, RIVERSIDE, or SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY CA to be CONSIDERED FOR POSITION. NOT ACCEPTING H-1 VISA CANDIDATES AT THIS TIME.Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS) is seeking an individual with demonstrated ability to perform under a minimum of supervision. An individual who can perform all of the duties and responsibilities of a senior AIX systems administrator; working in a team environment. Individual may be required to be on-call after hours, weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule with other team members. Individual may be required to work overtime and odd working hours for various projects. Individual will also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.This position is in our Technical Support Group working on assigned projects; reporting to the Group Manager or Team Lead.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Senior AIX Systems Administrator will be responsible for the following:* Systems Administration and Programming support for the IBM UNIX (AIX 5L) operating system and system management software;* Configuring and managing local, SAN and NAS disk resources on AIX 5L systems;* General UNIX technical consulting services to staff and clients;* General UNIX systems troubleshooting and problem resolution.DUTIES:Specific duties and tasks shall include, but not be limited to the following:* Review, install, configure, test and implement new releases of AIX 5L V.5.3 operating system software with a focus on using quick deployment/recovery software such as IBMs Network Installation Manager (NIM) and cloning via MKSYSB images:* Analyze IBM pSeries Power5 and /or Power6 hardware and AIX 5L V.5.3 operating system software problems;* Assist operations personnel with AIX 5L system trouble-shooting and recovery;* Provide solutions to IBM pSeries hardware and operating system software problems by obtaining and implementing vendor corrections or developing local fixes;* Develop and maintain IBM AIX 5L V.5.3 UNIX system utility programs and scripts in the Korn Shell (KSH) to manage the system with an emphasis on automating routine tasks;* Develop and document operating and maintenance procedures for the IBM AIX 5L V.5.3 UNIX environment.SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:Strongly prefer the ideal candidate to posses the following minimum qualifications:* At least 2 years experience in the last 5 years as a systems administrator installing, configuring, and updating the AIX Version 5.3 operating system;* At least 2 years experience in the last 5 years as a senior AIX systems administrator managing servers in an environment consisting of 20 or more servers;* At least 1 year experience developing and implementing UNIX Korn Shell (KSH) and/or Perl scripts for automation of system monitoring and maintenance procedures;* At least 1 year experience with Logical Partitioning and Virtualization on IBM pSeries Power5 systems;* 1 year experience in the last 2 years configuring local and SAN storage on AIX 5L systems using Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and Object Data Manager (ODM);* 1 year experience in performance tuning on AIX 5L using the VMO, IOO, NO, NFSO, and related AIX performance tuning commands.All other duties as assigned.ACS is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and does not discriminate against any applicant on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, military/veteran status, or any other status protected by Federal or State law or local ordinance.Years of Experience Required: More than 5 yearsExpected Travel Time: About 25%
