Job SummaryThis person will serve as Wyeth Consumer Healthcare’s Medical Director and leads the Global Medical Affairs team. This is a strategic clinical leadership role that has a strong operational component. This person will be one of the principal medical spokespersons for the company. Ideal candidate will be energetic, proactive and articulate with extensive medical research / drug safety or toxicology experience and some familiarity with over the counter drugs. The Global Medical Affairs function incorporates traditional medical affairs functions including acquisition, interpretation and presentation of medical / scientific information related to WCH products, due diligence on new product, medical surveillance and health hazard assessment. Another key component of the position is to interface with the commercial business units to support and develop their major brands. This position will closely interface with other key corporate functional areas including Global Safety, Surveillance, Epidemiology and Labeling, Regulatory Affairs, Law, Public Affairs and Government Affairs. Job Responsibilities*Envisioning, building, coordinating and managing a “best in class” Medical Affairs group. *Acquiring, interpreting and presenting scientific / medical data to multiple internal and external forums.*Overseeing the medical review of labeling and advertising plans, maintenance of advertising claims database and its utilization *Overseeing the toxicology functions and the generation of health hazard assessments *Supporting the medical and toxicology portions of Global regulatory applications*Providing medical input to assist development and innovation teams who will finalize and execute the clinical development plans for the new products.*Reviewing and interpreting major efficacy and safety issues Basic Qualifications*MD degree required*Minimum of 7 years Clinical Research or Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry*Strong scientific writing and proven leadership skills are essential*Experience with consumer products, new drug development and /or medical product surveillance is desirable*Critical thinking and evaluation around medical, toxicology and scientific publications*Working medical knowledge of common diseases and disorders amenable to OTC health products *Able to work in a dynamic, high performance, multidisciplinary team environment that deals with multiple projects covering the full spectrum of drug and device development*Develops productive relationships with other professionals such as regulatory agency representatives and investigators that enhance the achievement of organization goals*Proficient in MS Office SuiteRelocation is not available for this position.Wyeth offers competitive compensation and benefits programs, including child-care subsidies, flex-time, business casual attire, educational assistance and professional development programs.For more information and to apply online, please visit us at: www.wyeth.com/careers Wyeth is an Equal Opportunity Employer, M/F/D/V.
