Sr. Electrical Project Engineer

Design and application of new process and packaging controls systems, programmable logic controllers, advanced process control, computer networking systems, Human Machine Interface's, motor control and instrumentation. Provide technical direction to consultants, vendors, and contract engineers. Investigate process variability and develop innovative control system improvements to improve manufacturing productivity, cost reduction, and improve product quality. Prepare project bid packages, including installation drawings and specifications. Lead electrical installation and start-up. Being able to develop a project, from initial scope development, project estimates, requests for funding, procurement, scheduling, implementation and start-up, are key job responsibilities.QualificationsBasicMinimum seven (7) years progressively increasing technical experience in in the field of electrical engineering and computer controls and five (5) years project management experience. Manufacturing experience is a plus. Total combined minimum ten (10) years experience required. The candidate should have experience with process control, packaging controls, instrumentation, vision systems, plant floor networking, relational databases, MES systems and communications. Familiarity with the food and beverage industry controls is a plus, including liquid process systems, sterilization systems, clean-in-place systems, aseptic filling processes, powder filling and dairy spray drying systems. Project management responsibility both independently and as part of a project team is important. Strong communication skills, verbal, written and presentation, are required for success in this position.(Travel is between 25-40%, based on the project, with occasional international travel.)Qualifications:Preferred Qualifications: BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, Masters Degree a plus.Professional Engineer, Project Management Institute Certification is beneficial.Abbott welcomes and encourages diversity in our workforce.
