Job Description:Position Title: Senior Systems Engineer / ManagerLocation: San Francisco, CAPosition Description:Leader in On-Demand Transportation Solutions Seeks a highly skilled and driven Senior Linux Systems Engineer / Manager to join our growing team. You will be designing and supporting an advanced application platform. We're looking for talent with a combination of great analytical, technical, and communication skills. Must be able to manage 40+ Linux systems in a distributed computing environment; Configure system and network parameters; Monitor system stability and performance; Help ensure 24x7 operations; and Evaluate new technology.Primary Responsibilities: Manage 50+ Linux/Windows systems in a distributed computing environment.Configure system and network parameters. Monitor system stability and performance. Help ensure 24x7 operations.Evaluate new technology. Assist with the planning and design of future systems architecture to allow rapid scaling to meet demand. Develop and maintain documentation related to the installation, administration, and maintenance of multiple Linux/Windows systems in a distributed computing environment.Monitor, evaluate, and solve potential hardware and software performance issues. Manage Linux/Windows-related and other network requests and problems.



Job Experience:The successful candidate will have:5+ years experience administering Linux systems in a distributed computing environment.Basic scripting ability in Shell, PHP, Perl, or Python.Network Administration experience within Linux/Windows environment. Strong understanding of and ability to implement clustering and other high availability methods. Such as: Linux Clustering Suite, Linux Load balancing, and LVS(Linux Virtual Server).Understanding of TCP/IP networking, familiarity with common networking devices, and the ability to use tools such as SNMP and TCPdump to monitor activity, diagnose problems, and optimize performance.Kowledge of web servers and application servers (Apache, JBoss, Tomcat), firewalls/security, NIS/NFS, DNS, MTAs. Installation experience and configuration exp.Proven ability to build a secure environment using latest methods including system hardening.Working knowledge of NAS and SAN technologies; preferably experience with NetApp.Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
