To sustain and enhance our leadership position in the pharmaceutical industry, we continue to recruit, develop, and motivate individuals whose skills, values, and work ethic will grow and improve our business.JOB SUMMARY:Supervise, coordinate and direct the daily activities of hourly / non-exempt facility personnel engaged in the manufacturing and/or processing of product specific to functional area.RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide all aspects of daily supervision and direction of area personnel to include managing key employee relations activities of coaching, counseling, discipline, recognition and the performance management process. Engage in budgeting process by gathering data to support budget requests that impact own functional area. Also responsible for day-to-day management of area specific expenditures against approved budget. Utilize effective planning tools/data to design, implement and execute production and resource scheduling against operational demands. Prepare and/or revise departmental documentation and written procedures such as standard operating procedures, manufacturing directions, investigation reports, etc. Responsible for ensuring documentation and procedures are up to date and consistent with current practices, processes, and requirements. Assure area activities are in compliance with SOP’s, cGMP’s, production schedules, safety requirements, and facility practices and policies. Ensure area employees are developed through required training and that training is documented. Also responsible to assess appropriateness and effectiveness of training activities through daily observation of staff behaviors and results achieved. Focus on process improvement by challenging staff to identify improvement opportunities, monitoring the effectiveness of the improvement and communicating with other functional areas to identify like opportunities. Act as communication link to disseminate business information between upper levels of management and area workforce. Perform final review on completed batch production records and associated documents to assure compliance with established parameters and for good documentation practices Perform trend analysis on antigens produced by functional department Facilitate release and/or acquisition of starting materials and supply items pertinent to current production demandsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS: BS/MS degree in a scientific discipline and /or minimum of 3 years experience in biological manufacturing environment.ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Prior supervisory experience preferred. Training in cGMP’s associated with animal biologicals and/or related field is preferred Training on UF/MF (hollow fiber) and centrifugation systems is preferred Training in aseptic clean room and laboratory techniques is preferred Demonstrate general understanding of financial reports and their impact within own department. Ability to accomplish tasks through the efforts of a team within the department. Display a working knowledge of equipment within department in order to maintain process efficiency. Ability to manipulate databases, documents and spreadsheets to support business related reporting requirements. Demonstrated ability to write technical reports applicable to department (i.e. SOP’s, MD’s, internal investigative reports, etc.). Effectively interact with subordinates, peers and direct supervisor across multiple departments within the organization. Ability to recognize operational risk and take calculated action that results in significant impact to their own department. Display the ability to train and audit other employees in general applicable areas of regulatory compliance.
