The Surgical Technician/Surgical Assistant assists the surgical team in the care of patients in the operating rooms, utilizing principles of aseptic technique. Additionally, the ST/SA assists in preparing patient for surgery; passes instruments, sponges, and sutures to surgeon and surgical assistants during operations. This role may function as an assistant circulator under the direction of a registered nurse. Qualifications include: • High school diploma or equivalent • Vocational/Technical diploma as a Surgical Technologist • A certified surgical technologist is preferred - CPR required (must be certified throught the American Heart Association ONLY.)
