Job Description:JOB SUMMARY:The Systems Engineer will have broad knowledge of network engineering and a passion for operational excellence. The Engineer will take a lead role with new system implementations and network upgrades, while providing daily support, maintenance, and administration for the firm’s network infrastructure equipment and all related network systems in a manner that is consistent with our goal of delivering stable, reliable, highly-available and secure systems to our customers.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Assist in the design, documentation, implementation, monitoring and support of Windows 2000/2003 network configurations• Support Active Directory (DHCP, WINS & DNS) and group policies within a Windows 2003 networking environment• Provide day-to-day support for the firm's Messaging Systems to include Exchange, Blackberry, and Symantec Enterprise Vault• Troubleshoot Messaging, Network and AD problems, determine the underlying cause and use good judgment to resolve the issue• Provide support for the Firm’s disaster recovery/business continuity systems• Consistent with our team approach, work closely with our technical support analysts to provide tier-3 customer support for all network-related issues• Monitor the network on a daily basis to gather statistical data on system performance and perform necessary remediation• Provision, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS)• Configure HBA’s, FC switch architecture, configuration and management (zoning, fan-in/out, ISL’s, lun masking, etc), of multi-pathing/failover device driver technology• Forecast network system demands, consult with key business partners and draft findings and recommendations for management• Draft and maintain network system documentation • Keeps abreast of the latest technology and provide findings and recommendations to management• Must be available to work extended and/or alternative hours as needed for issue resolutions, deployments, system upgrades, etc.• Frequently required to work more than 37.5 hours a weekADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:• The employee may be asked to perform additional duties not listed in the job description as required by business needs.• This position will be responsible for working a 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. shift.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:• 5+ years of demonstrated experience in implementation, administration and support of Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server and Active Directory• Minimum 2 years experience in a primary role of SAN engineer/administrator (preferably NetAPP)• Experience with Brocade fiber channel switches and routers• Demonstrated experience with LAN/WAN technologies in a Windows 2000/2003 environment• Experience implementing, configuring and maintaining Cisco routers and switches• CCNA, MCSE, experience with Checkpoint firewalls, VPN, Win2K3, HP Openview, or MPLS configurations a plus• A working knowledge of VMWare, Citrix and clustering technologies desired.• Must be an independent, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized individual• Highly motivated and able to work well under the pressures of a dynamic and fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities• Excellent customer service skills required• Demonstrated success in analyzing a problem, troubleshooting and resolving it, while providing documentation for future reference• Availability for evening and weekend work projects, flexibility for travel required• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff required• Previous law firm or professional services experience preferred• Bachelor’s degree in IT related curriculum preferredWORKING CONDITIONS:• A normal office environment with little excess noise, dust, temperature and the like.The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
