Tax Director

Houston Area client is seeking a Tax Director.

 

Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of corporate tax work, including federal, state and local tax filings, research and planning.  Taxes included are income, franchise, sales & use, property, payroll, federal excise, and foreign VAT.  Research new tax legislation and rulings and implement procedures to ensure compliance.  Coordinate appropriate GAAP and SEC financial reporting of tax provisions and disclosures.  Ensure compliance with all tax-related aspects of Sarbanes Oxley.  Recommend, evaluate, plan and implement tax reduction strategies.  Oversee the reconciliation and analysis of general ledger tax accounts.

 

Manage and support our Tax (Sharing) Agreement with partner companies, ensuring the appropriate treatment and close coordination of all relevant matters under the agreement. 

 

Manage (tax) credits and other incentives associated with projects involving business site locations.  Work closely with human resources on benefit tax issues (e.g., ESPP, restricted stock, labor relations).

 

Evaluate tax implications with respect financing of projects and capital equipment.  Assist in analysis and guide strategy for corporate development with respect to acquisitions or other strategic investments.

 

Manage tax department of 3 individuals.

 

Qualifications

Strong background (8+ years experience) in corporate tax possessing significant knowledge of tax law and regulations with demonstrable ability to apply theory/regulations to business situations and transactions.

 

CPA or advanced tax/finance degree preferred with demonstrably strong tax accounting skills

 

Strong organizational skills and desire to work in an entrepreneurial team environment
