Technical Support Specialist - Desktop Services

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Technical Support Specialist installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains computer related hardware and software products. The position must have good overall knowledge of Microsoft Applications and Operating Systems, network topology, and technical troubleshooting methods. Candidates should be familiar with remote troubleshooting tools and the use of an Internal Work Order system for tracking events and issues. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Installation, setup and support of PC's, printers and other peripheral devices supported by IT. 2. Installation and support of software applications. 3. Strong Knowledge of Windows (XP/Vista) and Office (2003/2007). 4. Answering technical/support questions for the user community. 5. Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving Hardware and Software problems. 6. Insure that technical help desk tickets are processed and completed in a timely and accurate manner. 7. Provide correct routing and escalation when issues require. 8. Communicate status of issues with requestor and management in writing and verbally. 9. Minimum 3 year computer service experience in a fast paced business environment utilizing NT/2000/XP/Vista. 2. Excellent customer service skills. 3. Good communications skills (verbal and written). 4. Hardware troubleshooting experience in environments servicing local and remote users. 5. Familiarity with Client Management Tools (Microsoft SMS, PC Anywhere, etc.) 6. Good knowledge of supporting Microsoft Office Products and Operating Systems 7. Intermediate network topology and connectivity understanding. 8. Intermediate Telecommunications Understanding 9. Certifications (A+, MCSE, MCP) (preferred) 10. Ability to work in both team environments and as an individual contributor. 11. Basic network topology and connectivity understanding. 12. Attention to detail.
