Technical Support Specialist - NOC Technical Writer
POSITION DESRIPTION: This individual will use proven knowledge of specialized reporting tools to develop reporting structures as requested. Responsible for proactively generating and compiling reports based on findings, complete with recommended improvements/new requirements for business unit processes, operational procedures and their corresponding reporting structures. Examine and evaluate reporting requirements for various business units across the organization. Responsible for preparing end-user support material for NOC troubleshooting purposes. Will gather technical criteria from Tier 2 & 3 support technicians and formulate into understandable (based on the user audience) knowledgebase articles. Create Knowledgebase reports, analyze and suggest operational improvements. Update knowledgebase articles with current technical data. Assist in creating/maintaining a “NOC Portal” and provide content. Content that is appropriate to deliver to multiple audiences such as End Users and MIS Support Associates. Examples include; Metrics, Forms, Procedures, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Writes or drafts technical reports, articles or related material based on research, investigation or analysis. • Reviews and/or evaluates reports, documents, rules, and regulations; edits prepares, or approves summaries of findings. • Draws/creates and/or selects graphic charts, working drawings, illustrations, maps, etc., for publications/displays or similar projects; adapts sketches/drawings to meet specific technical or publication requirements. • Performs research activities by utilizing computer software to obtain and manipulate data. • Reviews and coordinates the preparation of reports, papers, and presentations for management. • Provides consultation, makes recommendations, gives appropriate advice, and/or facilitates decisions. • Review and/or edit documents for accuracy and completeness • Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing • Provide consultation and/or expert advice or testimony • Develop and/or implement new policies/procedures/standards and/or rules/regulations • Read, interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures • Evaluate information against a set of standards • Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum 5 years computer service experience in a fast paced business environment • Excellent Working Knowledge of Microsoft Business Applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio) • Excellent customer service skills. • Strong communications skills (verbal and written). • Ability to work in both team environments and as an individual contributor. • Ability to sit for extended periods at a keyboard to enter information and read displays. • Experience using Microsoft Share point or similar web publishing application.
