Transportation Clerk

Job Summary and Scope: Responsible for assisting Management in Fleet operations, which include daily duties related to OTR Drivers, Switchers, and Receiving drivers. Pay is $11 - $12 per hour. Duties and Responsibilities: Make equipment changes when necessary Assist management in day-to-day functions / activities of department Communicate with customers as delivery issues arise. Effectively and cordially communicate daily with drivers, warehouse employees and management on operational issues. Must be knowledgeable of all DOT safety rules and regulations Responsible for communicating and assisting management in enforcing company policies and procedures Sign drivers in and out. Check equipment in and out. Secure trailer locks and/or seals Verify tractors, trailers, and two wheelers in and out. Conduct temperature checks every 2 hours. Handle customer calls. Verify on time deliveries. Coordinate backhaul P/O's to drivers, and direct route in special shipping. Minimum Job Qualifications: Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers, customers, vendors, and management. Must be able to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously Proficient in Microsoft Office computer software 1-3 years of Transportation experience preferred 1-3 years of Distribution experience preferred Class A CDL preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be able to give instruction and communicate clearly with Driver personnel. Must be results oriented. Essential Job Functions: Visual, auditory and hand dexterity. Good reading / language, writing and math skills. Must be able to handle multi-line phone and possess extensive computer skills.
