Job Description:
The Gallery is looking for an experienced UNIX systems administrator to contribute to the design and operation of its expanding storage infrastructure, holding billions of images, with an emphasis on reliability, manageability, scalability, and performance. The Storage Team is responsible for the planning of all storage-related projects, the management and utilization of our critical storage vendor relationships, and the predictable execution of ongoing storage operations (installation, configuration, performance tuning, data replication and migration, and troubleshooting).

A UNIX/Storage Systems Administrator is required to have at least 5 years of experience in UNIX systems administration and scripting, with knowledge of networking concepts, and a keen desire to expand your repertoire of skills to include expertise in storage architectures, cutting-edge technologies, and high-volume operations through on the job training. This is a challenging position, requiring creative contributions to a growing team of storage systems administrators. Responsibilities:Deployment, configuration and administration of Storage Infrastructure. Delivery of the Storage Team's day-to-day capacity, reliability, manageability, scalability, and performance goals. Conscientious management, maintenance, and development of our vendor support relationships to insure rapid deployments, reliable, available, and performance operations, proactive monitoring, and timely and definitive problem resolution. Handle planning of short- and long-range storage projects. This includes participating in capacity planning, system design and optimization, and proactive research and evaluation of emerging storage technologies for integration into our storage infrastructure. Independently pursue ongoing documentation, enhancement, and optimization of the storage infrastructure. Streamline and automate processes and practices within the Storage Team and with external vendor support personnel. Rotational 24 x7 on-call support Minimum Qualifications:5+ years UNIX systems administration experience, including working in a high-performance system administration team with 24x7 service level requirements. Strong UNIX systems administration, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills (Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris). Demonstrated proficiency in shell scripting (sh, Perl, Python). Knowledge of standard networking protocols and services (DNS, TCP/IP, NFS, HTTP, rsync) and ability to troubleshoot/diagnose networking issues. Ability to work quickly, independently, and effectively, with little direct supervision Ability to accomplish multiple projects simultaneously. Strong planning, organization, and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills Strong customer orientation, both internal and external. Strategic thinker, both technically and about the business as a whole. Passion for solving technical challenges. Self-motivated / self-starter. Desire to work in a fast-paced, evolving, and dynamic environment. Strongly Preferred:2+ years experience with large-scale storage infrastructures. Strong working knowledge of storage architectures, technologies, and operations (SAN, DAS, NAS, distributed and cluster file systems, Fiber Channel, volume management, replication, data protection). Substantial experience in managing high-volume online operations and growing large, complex, mission-critical storage systems in a scalable and manageable manner. Strong project management skills, with demonstrated capability to successfully manage multiple complex technical projects, simultaneously. Demonstrated leadership experience guiding and developing less seasoned team members into more capable and effective contributors. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
