Web Software Developer
Dalco is a full-line distributor of commercial, institutional and industrial cleaning supplies and equipment. Dalco’s regional market area covers the state of Minnesota, parts of Wisconsin, Northern Iowa, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Major Functions
Design, develop, update, and test web applications using VB/ASP, ASP.NET, C Sharp, Java, JavaScript, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in planning and analyzing solutions through functional and technical expertise• Design, code and test various internal and external web applications• Maintain, tune and repair applications in order to keep them performing according to original specifications• Meticulously and professionally document the results of all work efforts to ensure the transfer and retention of institutional knowledge• Employ a methodical, technically informed approach to problem troubleshooting efforts aimed at quickly and efficiently identifying and resolving root-causes• Design and implement customer-facing web pages, server-side components, file and database formats, and installation components• Meet projected milestones and completion dates• Versioning and building of internal and external releases• Stay current and learn new technology• Generally displays a courteous and helpful attitude in order to provide a positive experience for our customers.• Promptly follows up with customer after complaint to ensure they are satisfied with the action that was taken.• Regularly listens to customers in an empathetic manner, ensuring an understanding of questions, concerns and requests and their feeling associated with them.• Recommend potential departmental resolutions of customer problems and satisfaction of needs.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
• B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent• 1 - 2 years of experience in computer/IT environment and building web services and applications• 1 - 2 + years experience developing in Java Script• 1 - 1 + year experience developing in AJAX• 1 - 2 + years experience developing in ASP.NET 2.0, C Sharp, VB.NET, SQL SERVER (2000 AND 2005), DHTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, Microsoft Internet Information Server• Strong objective-oriented design and programming skills• Web design and JavaScript programming expertise and development• Experience in developing, writing, debugging, and optimizing SQL database queries and stored procedures• Experience in developing, building and maintaining databases in SQL Server 2000 and 2005• Experience developing and using SQL Analytic Services• Experience in setup and administration of Microsoft Internet Information Server• Demonstrated analysis and troubleshooting skills• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Commitment to detail, quality, and customer focus• Ability to troubleshoot, debug and thoroughly test software applications• Must be able to maintain/write/tune stored procedures and triggers, database maintenance Plans, and perform ongoing performance evaluation and tuning• Work independently.• Trustworthy, honest and respects confidentiality.
Desired Qualifications
• Experience in SOAP, Flash, Adobe Flex Builder 2, Adobe Photoshop CS2/CS3• Experience in interfacing with and IBM iSeries Systems (AS400)• Experience with both web and desktop GUI design preferred• Experience with C++
ADA Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the employee sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to read, understand and input computer data as well as use the phone, computer, printer, copier, calculator and fax and do hand written reports. Manual dexterity required for use of calculator, mouse and computer keyboard.
This position requires a 40-hour workweek but may exceed this time depending on weekly responsibilities and workload. The employee works in a professional office setting with low to moderate physical impacts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee interacts with internal/external client service staff, managing directors, clients, vendors, visitors and facility management.
Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary element of the job; and, attendance is an essential function of employment.
