At Millennium, we're big on results, not formality.Position Summary:As the West Regional Director, you will assist in the management of the Oncology Medical Science Liaison group. You will help set the vision and the tone for the operation of the group and, working with the Medical Affairs management team, help execute the ongoing MSL strategy. You will have oversight of key MSL programs such as management of Key Opinion Leaders (KOL's), submission and pull-through on Independent Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS's) and assisting with key investigators on Millennium-sponsored research initiatives.Duties and Responsibilities:You will assist with ongoing development of the MSL program in critical areas such as training and development of MSL's, ensuring proper MSL focus and resourcing and assuring adequate and appropriate attendance at medical meetings. You will serve as an interface between the MSL's and other internal departments (Sales, Marketing, Clinical Operations, etc.) when necessary. You will ensure legal and regulatory compliance for all MSL activities.As a regional manager you will also provide supervision for the MSL's assigned to you. This will include coaching and mentoring, hiring and training of new MSL's, performance management, and professional development. You will be responsible for expense reporting, budget management and forecasting.You will be responsible for the customary MSL duties within a defined geographic area (IIS's, KOL's, etc.). The size of this geography will be determined by total MSL headcount, but will be smaller than what is normally expected of an MSL.Qualifications:Basic qualifications:Minimum of a Master's degree in clinical/life sciences. The position requires at least 5 years within the pharmaceutical industry (MSL role, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Sales, or Marketing) or at least 5 years within a clinical practice setting.Preferred qualifications:Advanced degree preferred (i.e. MD, PharmD, PhD) and at least 3 years experience in the oncology pharmaceutical industry (MSL role, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Sales, or Marketing). Oncology experience in a clinical practice setting is also preferred. Previous Medical Affairs and direct-reporting people management experience are also desired.
