Database Services Team Lead
The Associated Press seeks a Database Services Team Lead for its Cranbury, New Jersey office.
This position is critical to the Global Infrastructure department and will be responsible for ensuring the timely execution of multiple large projects and provide incident management and resolution support to a Multi-platform team.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the overall stability, support and engineering of SQL Server and Oracle databases including: standards, security, incident support and documentation Point contact for Level 3/2 Database support Lead creation of a scalable database platform which meets existing and upcoming application needs Work with systems teams to define the long-term roadmap for SQL and Oracle infrastructure Maintain high customer service levels Manage database engineers and administrators Provide leadership, guidance, and development to professional level technical staff Drive decisions on platform standardization, evaluations, configuration, and training Maintain effective working relationships with other IT managers, end users, and business partners in order to efficiently and effectively maintain and improve customer service levels Investigate new technologies, hardware and software packages to improve system performance, stability and systems administration procedures
QUALIFICATIONS: 6+ years of Database Administrator experience in supporting large SQL/Oracle platforms Hands on SQL Server experience is an absolute must Understand and supports messaging and end user collaboration Database certifications is a plus Demonstrated ability to motivate staff, and to deliver service within strict delivery timeframes Ability to go oncall with engineer skills Understand SQL Clusters, Configuration and performance tuning Demonstration of solid trouble shooting skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to express complex technical concepts effectively Demonstrated ability to drive change associated with efficiency and effectiveness Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to accomplish results Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science or equivalent work experience required
