Program Manager-Web Communications
JOB PURPOSE:Responsible for managing and implementing all web content and online initiatives for the Woodruff Arts Center, in support of the vision and strategies of the enterprise. Facilitates communication between divisional staff and the Web Content Coordinators, and interacts professionally with all staff using strong interpersonal skills. Leads architectural design of the website and future revision projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Website & E-Communications:Works in the Woodruff Arts Center IT department to lead the planning, development and growth of the center’s website and online programs. Manage online content on a daily basis for accuracy, continuity, flow, linkage and overall appearance. Participate in new web enhancement projects for the benefit of the enterprise and its patrons. Works with the divisions and Tessitura IT staff to plan and implement email campaign programs. Administers external Web Infrastructure including server space, ensuring logical structure, security, organization and accessibility of all stored data. Plan and develop graphics, illustrations, multimedia and other visual assets for integration into center’s web components and email publications. Works with divisional graphics department and design firms, as necessary, to further develop the design look and feel for center’s website and electronic communications. Plan, develop and deliver any necessary staff training and education programs, and enforce standard procedures and controls for all staff content submissions. Work with the division departments and Tessitura IT staff to assist with meeting revenue-generation goals on the web for ticket, membership, and shop sales. Direct the production and/or purchase of new internet and new-media applications, as needed. Work with shop personnel to manage implementation of online merchandise & shops - work with divisions to identify and resolve any technology needs. Work with the shop managers and other staff to determine ongoing image, design and content needs. Work with education departments to enhance online access to the division services. Serve as liaison between the center and third parties, when applicable. Serve as liaison with external websites. Supervise staff, interns, and/or temporary support staff to plan and implement the center’s web program.
2. Online Media Strategy:Provide strategic leadership and coordination in working with the center’s directors and managers to create an ongoing online program vision, supporting strategies, implementation timeline, and resource needs allocation. Establish the necessary internal annual and long-range budgets to support the online program.
3. Online Marketing:Work with marketing and membership staff to promote web visitation and to promote programs via the website. Execute online promotions, as needed. Able to work with strategic initiatives and fund raising for technology enhancements for Woodruff Arts Center.
4. Online Analysis & Reporting:Develop and maintain systems and structures to adequately measure, operate, and manage the effectiveness of online programs at the center, regularly reporting website visitation statistics and trends. Keep current on and evaluate trends in new technologies for appropriateness for the center’s mission. Keep abreast of relevant professional literature, attend professional conferences and serve on external committees.
5. Special Projects:Assist with the development of Pod Cast programs. Assist with the development of Web Cast programs.Explore revenue models and audience generation via new media programs and web strategies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor degree and 3+ years of prior internet and email experience in managing content, new product launches and banner development.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must have functional and technical knowledge and design skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment and have a natural interest and literacy in technology applications in performing and visual arts centers.Must have experience with project management for web design and multimedia development. Hands-on experience working with a component based Content Management Systems such as Ektron. Familiarity with Microsoft applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. Must have working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or comparable digital image manipulation software. Must be knowledgeable in digital retouching, color correction, and image optimization. Proficiency in HTML, XHTML, CSS, ASP.NET, Javascript, Flash, DreamWeaver, Windows Server 2003, FTP and statistical analysis software. Familiarity with e-communications software, such as Constant Contact.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must be detail oriented and very organized, with strong planning and project management skills: ¬ Accurately plan and scope out tasks and projects by setting specific objectives and goals needed to get the results outlined in the center’s strategic plan. ¬ Skilled in marshalling resources to get things done by orchestrating multiple activities at once to accomplish goals. Anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks. ¬ Successfully manage projects through to completion. Must be a self-starter who takes direction well. Must be a team player with an ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people via written and oral communications. Must have a strategic mindset, with a demonstrated ability to act in line with an organization’s best interests and strategic vision Have a creative eye and mind for electronic page layout as well as print layout. Ability and motivation to work in new and creative ways to expand the boundaries of traditional audience services.
