Staff Accountant
The Associated Press seeks a Staff Accountant for its New York City headquarters.
The Staff Accountant will be directly responsible for accurate and timely submission of a multi-company general ledger for all AP entities via ROSS & SAP. The successful candidate must be able to present business solutions that will leverage the SAP/ROSS systems to gain efficiencies. Responsibilities will also include preparation of audit and ad-hoc reports to verify data integrity via SAP journal entries; analysis of project requests; reconciliation of payroll balance sheet accounts; analysis of various payroll controls for accuracy; identification and resolution of system issues/problems. In addition, the Payroll Accountant will serve as a liaison with General Accounting to resolve all balancing and posting issues. Duties will also include special projects and other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: 4-year Accounting Degree or comparable job experience. 3-5 years related experience in Payroll Accounting. Experience with SAP and ROSS a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills required. Must be able to work effectively on an independent basis and in a team environment. Must be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines. Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel required.
