Switchboard Operator

Switchboard Operator

 

Responsibilities:

· Responds to and serves callers/customers with a courteous manner.

· Places, receives, and transfers a high volume of calls through IP switchboard.  Places conference calls.  Supplies information to callers. 

· Uses customer service skills to expedite the communication process

· Updates and maintains documentation used by the switchboard operators

· Trains others on switchboard operation as needed

· Assist other administrative staff with overflow work as needed and as operator workload permits

 

Requirements:

·  Experience on IP switchboard; one year of experience as an operator on a large-company switchboard

·  Pleasant, courteous demeanor

·  Excellent interpersonal communication skills

·  Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, self-motivating

·  Ability to work collectively with team members

·  Dependable, resourceful – consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance

·  Ability to remain calm under times of stress

·  Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, prioritize and manage competing demands and deal with change, delays, or unexpected events.

·  Occasionally requires sitting for long periods of time with limited opportunity for breaks
