ASSISTANT SPORTS EDITOR

The Porterville Recorder is seeking an assistant sports editor to provide coverage of stories primarily from within the newspaper’s circulation area.  This involves collecting information, interviewing individuals and writing stories. The assistant sports editor also provides video for stories. This involves shooting video, editing video and producing video for use on the paper’s Web site. They will also assists with the design and production of the daily Sports Section, and will be responsible for producing the Sports Section at least two days each week in rotation with the Sports Editor. 

 

The ideal candidate will have a BS or BA in Journalism, English, Communications or related field. Good command of English language. Good interpersonal skills.

Computer assisted editing and design experience. InDesign preferred. This position also requires significant out-of-office time while covering local sporting events.

 

The Recorder is a 10,000 circulation paper in Central California and is delivered six days a week. We also publish a free Spanish-language weekly newspaper, a weekly shopper, and a monthly real estate publication. Our rapidly growing web presence is centered on www.portervillerecorder.com
