Assistant Editor (Malibu, CA)

CurtCo Media is a leading publishing company with a portfolio of well known titles on the luxury lifestyle, including Arts & Antiques. We have an exceptional opportunity in our Malibu, CA location for an Assistant Editor.

 

This position will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

·  Ensure that every page of the magazine reads well, is grammatically correct and error-free

·  Fact-check all stories in each issue

·  Incorporate all changes and flow texts to other editors and art director

·  Develop an in-house style guide

·  Report and write stories for print publication and/or website

·  Adhere to production schedules and flag any late/overdue texts

·  Contact writers for fact-checking and questions, as necessary

·  Assist with procuring subjects for home section

·  Assist with procuring subjects for “Objects of Desire: section

·  Assist with contracts and general administrative duties


A successful candidate will have the following:

·  College degree in Journalism or English

·  2 years experience of copy editing and one year of writing/reporting preferred

·  Knowledge of AP Style

·  An enthusiasm for learning about the art world and art in general

·  Exceptional spelling and grammatical skills

·  Strong orientation to detail.

·  InDesign experience on the Mac platform is essential
