Position will be no less than 6 months in length and no longer than 24 months in length. The Associate Editor's responsibilities include managing the reprint/revision or new book creation process for Pearson Custom Publishing working in tandem with field based acquisition editors. Duties to include, but not be limited to:' Monitoring inventory and managing the revision and reprint process for assigned projects within the prescribed deadlines. Interface with Inventory management staff regarding reprints.' Manage the sales process of revised titles including all phases of author management, editorial approvals (derivative projects), financial approval (as required by PCP) and manuscript submission including the creation of Profit and Loss statements. Obtain necessary publishing contracts for all projects that are revised.' Communication with customer/authors, field editors, sales reps, etc in order to close selected reprints or revisions. Use phone and email as tools.' For all of the above in addition to external communication, superior internal communication must be maintained in order to deliver books to bookstores on time' Provide tracking of sales activities as requirement by management. The Associate Editor will assist with the creation of value-packs, obtaining Purchase Orders from bookstores and the resolution of sundry shipping issues.' This position will help field based acquisition editors to maximize their time with clients by reassigning backlist project management to the Associate Editor. Additionally, the Associate Editor will assist with attrition and increase revenue for PCP through active management of backlist titles. The Associate Editor will work with multiple field based acquisition editors; which will elevate some of their backlist titles and allowing them to focus on new business acquisitions and whole account growth which translates into larger revenue, higher value proposition. This position has no direct or indirect management responsibilities. Two years of experience within the publishing industry, preferably in a sales or customer service related area, or 4 years of demonstrated related experience in the sales or customer service area outside of the publishing industry. BA and/or equivalent years of successful work experience. ' Communication (internal/external) skills including verbal, written, e-mail, telephone' Computer skills: MS Office, UOPS, OASIS, PCP proprietary systems' Organizational skills in a multi tasking environment' Problem solving skills to solve both everyday and some complex publishing projects' Sales and customer relations skills.'
