Associate Marketing Manager
Associate Marketing Manager Peoples Education Inc., a school publisher and distributor of supplemental materials for grades pre-K through 12, is presently seeking an enthusiastic, highly-motivated and qualified Associate Marketing Manager at our corporate headquarters in Saddle Brook, NJ.
Job Description Summary
As an Associate Marketing Manager, you will help drive the product marketing for state customized supplementary instructional materials. This position involves managing multiple states and multiple product lines within your state including new product launches, proactively responding to market needs, and ensuring a consistent, compelling message is effectively communicated to the marketplace. Sales training and the development and implementation of all marketing and sales strategies are also required. Overall, the responsibility of this position will be to deliver a clear understanding of how the company’s products can best provide outstanding value to the marketplace. This includes fine tuning product positioning in response to data gathered from the field to stay a step ahead of the competition. In order to accomplish these responsibilities, you will work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager.
Required Skills/ExperienceMust have educational publishing experience, preferably K-12 experience.Must be detailed oriented and able to manage multiple projects.Must have marketing experience, particularly with product development.Ability to thrive in a demanding environment requiring high degree of deadline-driven productivity, adaptability, communication, initiative and follow-through.Strong writing and communication skills.Minimum of 2-4 years of work experience in educational publishing.
Responsibilities
Conduct market research to identify and research market growth opportunities for the product lines, understand user needs and gather market and customer feedback. Product Development – work closely with Editorial during the initial start-up/kick-off phase of a product – through ideas/conception to prototype. During this process, provide input on market needs/issues as related to the overall product and how it will be used and positioned. Input will relate to the overall pedagogy and scope and sequence of the program(s). Monitor and analyze data and respond to revenue trends, including overall revenue and unit growth, new customer acquisition, product selection trends, and customer retention. Develop and execute marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to ensure the profit growth and expansion of the product lines. Monitor yearly budgets and provide monthly budget actuals and reallocations based on project spending.Develop comprehensive messaging and positioning, product packaging and marketing collateral. Work collaboratively with Advertising Manager on execution of marketing collateral and campaigns.Drive customer communications and support. Maintain ongoing and close relationship to customers for awareness of needs and perspectives.Act as both internal and external evangelist for products; attend/present at sales meetings, and conferences; conduct customer education/training. Must travel at least 3-8 times a year.Monitor competitive landscape; responsible for ongoing analysis of competitors including positioning, pricing, and competitive outbound marketing programs; develop and deliver ongoing competitive analysis to sales reps.Provide ongoing support to the sales team by developing strong product training sessions and sales tools (including catalogs, sell sheets, PPTs, white papers, and updates to website).Conduct web research to determine funding opportunities and state initiatives that would assist in the development of specific brochures and tactical mailings into a specific territory.All other duties as assigned.
