DescriptionAs a Bindery Operator at Vertis, you will have the opportunity to lead your own team of people, mentoring and coaching them with the vast skills and experience you have acquired over the years.  As a team, you will be working to produce quality inserts for some of the country's largest and most profitable retailers.Responsible to operate all bindery equipment. Performs all production-related functions. Responsible for quality of output and seeks to maximize the efficiency of all activities. Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment.  Under close supervision, performs fundamental tasks associated with the operation of the Quarterfolder, Stitchers, and Videojet Imprinter.  Takes printed product from pallets of printed material and places then onto conveyors or into pockets.  Performs clean-up duties.  Assist in tasks on other parts of Quarterfold, Stitcher and Videojet Imprinter. Operates equipment including but not limited to the following: SimFold Quarterfolder, RIMA Stacker, VideoJet Imprinter, Roskam Stacker, Muller 335 Saddle Stitcher, Muller Stacker, Dynaric Strapping Machine, and Poole Bailing System. Responsible to accurately record production and quality activities on logs, QC checklists, forms, database applications, etc. Ensures and promotes a safe and clean work environment. Immediately reports unsafe conditions and continuously seeks to improve housekeeping and physical appearance of the facility. Performs routine Preventative Maintenance and performs or assists with minor repairs. Watches for bad folds or other print defects. Picks up bundles of printed products from pallets and places on conveyor or in pocket. Bundle tie, if necessary, at other end with tying machine, and stacks bundles neatly onto skid or into boxes. Helps in keeping an accurate count of finished product by setting up and monitoring scale. Maintain skid counts. Performs housekeeping duties, as required. Learn to set-up and operate the following equipment: scale, tying and banding machines, stackers, pallet jack, etc. Communicates requirements for skids, cardboard, boxes, tape, etc. Ensures product meets or exceeds client quality expectations. Promotes, participates in, and supports the Quality System.Required SkillsRequirements: High school degree or equivalent. 3-5 years experience working in a bindery environment preferred. Must have excellent communication and problem solving skills. Must have experience on: SimFold Quarterfolder, RIMA Stacker, VideoJet Imprinter, Roskam Stacker, Muller 335 Saddle Stitcher, Muller Stacker, Dynaric Strapping Machine, and Poole Bailing System. Must be able to count accurately and perform basic math tasks. Must be able to lift 15-30 pound bundles frequently, to a height of at least 4 feet.
