Job ID: 106800Position Description: MarketWatch is seeking a markets reporter to cover bond markets, with an emphasis on Treasury and corporate bonds. The candidate will be required to write daily columns providing a moment-by-moment account of what’s happening in the market for an audience of institutional and retail investors, all on tight deadlines. The candidate will also be asked to cover spot news early in the day, contributing small “pulse” items and turning them into short stories. Opportunities to do video and radio also exist.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:* monitoring all major financial markets, spotting trends and integrating into sharp, readable copy* writing headlines and news “pulses” under real-time deadlines * be in regular contact with traders, analysts, strategists and economists* writing markets features* breaking out short news items into full storiesPosition Requirements:The candidate must possess 3-5 years experience as a financial reporter. S/he must have a working understanding of company earnings statements and corporate stock and bond ratings and be familiar with SEC filings. S/he must be able to work in a pressurized deadline environment and be able to interact easily with others. Must be a team player. Good spelling/grammar are extremely important. Excellent writing and communication skills required. Prior web experience preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and other email interfaces (Hotmail, AOL, Earthlink, etc.).
