Brand Manager

The Brand Manager is responsible for establishing, executing, and analyzing the newsstand marketing strategies for TIME and Entertainment Weekly. The Brand Manager works closely with the Consumer Marketing teams for both titles to achieve targeted sales levels and execute magazine goals. This position demands strong marketing, analytical, client management, communication, and financial skills.

Responsibilities include:
• Developing and implementing marketing plans, which include distribution, display, and promotional strategies for both titles.
• Constructing the annual newsstand budgets and monthly reforecasts.
• Creating and updating weekly sales forecasts; providing monthly and ad hoc expense reporting for titles.
• Analyzing the competitive environment and industry trends and determining opportunities for dealer expansion and/or other research projects.
• Reviewing and explaining monthly financial reconciliations.
• Performing ad hoc profitability / P&L analyses on retail display and promotion opportunities.
• Developing and managing the execution of in-store promotions at retail and tracking results.
• Collaborating with functional areas within Time/Warner Retail and Time Inc. (retail sales force, wholesale sales, research, business office, etc.) to manage various projects & initiatives and implement title strategies.
• Managing 2 direct reports.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years professional experience with a marketing or financial focus in the publishing or packaged goods industry. Previous experience managing at least one direct report is a must. Circulation or newsstand marketing experience is a plus. The individual must have excellent analytical and quantitative abilities with prior experience in budgeting and/or accounting. The candidate must be highly motivated and proactive with polished communication skills and be able to manage client relationships. The ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple projects is vital. An MBA or advanced degree in marketing or finance is desirable.
