Brand Manager, Time Warner Retail- Parsippany, NJ
Time/Warner Retail Sales & Marketing, a division of Time Inc. the leading magazine publisher in the world with approximately 150 magazines, is the largest publisher-owned magazine retail marketer and distribution services company in the industry. T/WR handles all aspects of sales and marketing in the U.S. and Canada for more than 300 magazine brands, including People, Time, Sports Illustrated, Fortune, In Style, Better Homes and Gardens, Food & Wine, Martha Stewart Living, Consumer Reports among others.
The Brand Manager is responsible for establishing, executing and analyzing the newsstand marketing strategy for the MSLO magazine brands including Martha Stewart Living, MS Everyday Foods and Body + Soul. While the Brand Manager reports into T/WR, it involves significant contact with the Consumer Marketing team of the Martha Stewart Group. This position demands strong marketing, interpersonal and financial skills.
Responsibilities include:
• Developing and implementing a marketing plan for each title, including distribution, display and promotional strategy and tactics.
• Managing relationship with MSL to keep them updated on status of the business, programs in progress, and new sales opportunities.
• Forecasting sales performance weekly and completing monthly financial reconciliations.
• Analyzing the competitive environment and industry trends and determining opportunities for new promotions.
• Working closely with functional areas within Time/Warner Retail (sales, research, finance, etc.) to manage the day-to-day business and implement new initiatives.
• Management of a shared assistant manager who provides support on analysis and implementation.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years professional experience with a marketing, research or financial focus in packaged goods or publishing; newsstand marketing experience is a plus. The individual should have excellent analytical and quantitative abilities and strong financial skills. The candidate must be highly motivated and proactive with polished communication skills and be able to manage client relationships. Since the job covers several titles, the ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple projects is vital. An MBA or advanced degree in marketing or finance is desirable.
