Communications Specialist

SUMMARY: Works part time – 2 time per week. Manages and executes company-wide communications plan, using meetings, intranet, Web site, newsletter, announcements. Works with GM of HR and Head of Training to develop company-wide communication strategy and tactics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS include the following:
1. With GM of HR and Head of Training, develops and implements the Company's internal communication strategy and tactics. Works with other divisions to develop and implement individual communications plans.
2. Manages the development of the intranet, including preparing and approving contracts, project schedules, content, and resource planning. Monitors intranet development and reports back to management. Runs meetings with executives to review progress and approve content. Serves as company representative to outside vendors, handling requests, payments, schedules, and proposals.
3. Coordinates monthly HR conference call and annual HR conference presentations.
4. Creates marketing plans for and manages the announcement of company-wide events, requests for information, and ongoing programs. Plans and prepares company-wide communication events, including business series, chairman updates, monthly employee welcome parties, and some chairman's lunches.
5. Manages, creates, edits, researches, and updates content for the intranet, including news, announcements, organization charts, forms, surveys, and topics for bulletins boards. Manages outside resources creating content for the news and announcement section. Coordinates task force determining bulletin board topics. Manages, edits, coordinates layout, publishes and distributes Company newsletters. Selects and arranges for printing and distribution.
6. Develops, edits, and produces corporate Web site. Develops copy for marketing materials such as corporate brochures, script for corporate video, and press releases. Manages and implements updates. Manages responses to e-mail requests generated from Web site.
7. Prepares, drafts, and suggests content for speeches and general correspondence for Chairman. Organizes material and plans arrangement or outline. Reviews, revises, corrects and submits speech for approval. Provide similar support to other Executives.

8. Drafts, edits, and manages distribution of company-wide announcements.
9. Serves as initial contact for incoming communication from the media and general public; responds to inquiries.
10. Coordinates with Tokyo to ensure timely dissemination, of important information originating in the Head Office, including President's Messages.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 3-5 years of professional writing experience, including corporate speechwriting.
· Must be able to develop corporate communication strategies, have an ability to interact with senior executives and manage large projects.
· Familiarity with websites and corporate intranets.
· Expertise in PowerPoint essential.
