Director Technology Strategy

This position will provide technical leadership and guidance to corporate executives, business CTO's, and the Pearson Technology team. It will establish technical strategies, identify emerging technology solutions, identify and recommend standards, specify global infrastructure principles, recommend approaches for the purposes of positioning application roadmaps, and recommend potential technical infrastructure for the long-term support of Pearson businessesThe successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the development of technology strategies and for their alignment to overall Pearson business objectives and goals. The candidate should have extensive experience specifically in product technologies and knowledge of information technology and publishing. They must be effective in working in a globally dispersed organization across all levels of management. The candidate must be proficient in collecting and understanding corporate objective and tactical goals. They must also be proficient bringing clarity to technically difficult subject maters and be able to reach consensus and buy-in from Pearson businesses. Formal education or equivalent:A Bachelors of Science degree is preferred, with a major in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.Required Skills:Knowledge and proven experience in developing strategic technology plans.Ability to demonstrate the business value of Pearson Technology to our customers.Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and persuade at all management levels and thrive in a cross-functional environment.Have a proven record in design and implementation of enterprise class systems. Preparation of Business Case Analysis, Project Scope Definition and Requirements Analysis, Return on Investment Modeling.Knowledge of Change Management Practices and methodologies.Have proficiency in traditional publishing, structured publishing, Internet publishing, and content management standards.Have proven Project Management skills.Have proficiency in managing support staffs and issue escalation processes and procedures.Have proficient in industry practices and trends.Excellent human resource management skills.Experience managing financial resources to meet goals.Excellent oral and written communications skills, initiative and assertiveness.Beneficial Skills:-Knowledge of technology standards and practices.-Knowledge of publishing applications, tools, and methodologies.-Knowledge of Content Markup Standards, including XML, SGML, and HTML.-Knowledge SOA architecture, J2EE, web and application servers.-Knowledge of enterprise class and mid-tier server technologies.-Knowledge in the use of Relational Database and associated tools, including database design.
